Willowbrook House
Extension and renovation of residential detached home including internal house refurbishment.
Project Highlights
Willowbrook House
This site is located to the north of Bosham, within the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The existing house sat on a large corner plot and required modernisation. Our brief was to add significant floor area to the existing house and to improve the appearance of the whole house. The existing house was narrow plan with front and rear facing gables. It was difficult to add extensions to this roof in a cohesive way. We therefore proposed completely removing the existing roof and forming a new roof over the extended footprint. The project successfully achieved the client’s brief through well considered design.
The roof finish was changed to slate to keep the ridge height consistent with neighbouring houses. Externally the house was clad in black timber, complemented by flint features panels to the lower half. New black powder coated aluminium windows and doors were added throughout. Permission was granted in a second round of planning for a detached garage with store over and new access.
A neutral colour palette was chosen internally, set off with feature areas of darker finishes picking up on external cladding cues. The master bedroom features a vaulted ceiling. A large open plan family kitchen and dining opens up onto the garden with bi-folding doors. A double height stairwell floods the ground and first floors with light.
