Colworth Farm
New oak framed barn, housing shooting lodge and tourist rooms.
Project Highlights
Colworth Farm
The proposed barn replaced an existing lower level open fronted barn. It is located within the main farmstead and will open up agricultural diversification opportunities to support the farm in the long-term. Set within the South Downs National Park, a robust planning strategy was required to secure permission for a large new barn within its sensitive landscape setting. The barn exhibits traditional architecture with a simple in plan, with a large double height vaulted central hall. A first floor is introduced at both ends providing two bed and breakfast tourist rooms, farm office and ancillary rooms. An oak frame provides the structure to the barn and will be fully exposed internally. Elevationally, the central hall is expressed by full height glazed areas front and rear, with traditional barn doors. Our Architectural Technologist has prepared a full set of working drawings and carefully co-ordinated the oak frame.
